Random Thoughts 6/22/12

Random Thoughts:

My son's friend was married to a Russian woman briefly several years ago. I think it was one of those mail-order bride situations. Her parents came over to visit them in Southern California, first visit ever, and they were stymied by all the food and food items available as well as the orchards. They couldn't believe the orchards in Southern California didn't have fences around them. (Now, we're talking S. Cal here, where most people have a few trees in their backyards even.) Anyway, they were aghast at the plethora of orchards. They said in Russia all the orchards had fences around them and if you tried to pick the fruit, you'd be shot as there were sentries posted. How awful that must be. They even "sneaked" into an orchard and pulled a few oranges off to eat while visiting. So if you ever think about living in the eastern European countries, think of what you'd be missing.

My hubs' brother and his family lived in Italy for several years. Their apartment came with walls. That's it. No cabinets, floors, sinks, toilets, etc. You got walls. When they moved into the apartment, a window was broken. It took months to get another one. You don't just walk into Home Depot and get one. You wait and wait and wait. I think they were happy to go to Belgium after that. ;-) But I haven't heard the Belgium stories either.
*

Living in actual cowboy country I made this observation: Cowboys don't whistle at women; they nod when passing. Yep, they sure do. Cowboys are the last true American men, in my opinion.
*

A couple of weeks ago, I read about a woman on American Idol who didn't win. (Having had no television for over 25 years, we have never seen AI.) But her reaction was: I have absolutely nothing. Seriously, how ungrateful can a young person be? What does it say about our society when a very young woman laments that she has nothing?! She lives in the best country on the face of the earth. She has some talent or she wouldn't have been a contestant on a television show. She has the ability to set her own fate. She could get a job!! She's alive and breathing. I'm sure she has food provided to her by her mummy and dada. In the photo accompanying this story, she had on a very pretty dress. What does she mean she has nothing? How tragic she must be.

The above young woman sounds like a few other people I know who have upgraded basic stupidity to disability level.

Now on to some beauty:

What the woman who lives in this home did to her sofa is fantastic. Just adorable. Of course, I love that style.

More white slipcovers in this cute living room.

How clever to display your roses and carnations in a button jar.

I’d love to have a bathroom with a shower that didn’t need a door or shower curtain. This color is beautiful also.

Tiny office but it’s enough. Very clever and so attractive you don’t have to hide it. Looks to be a closet turned into an office.

More lovely blossoms surrounding this entrance to several apartments.

Another unique birdhouse. I plan on getting some more done in the next several weeks.

Another clever and innovative homeowner using a basket to hold towels. Look at the sprigs of evergreens in her toilet tissue.

Pretty porch done on the cheap it looks like. Cute and cozy.

And yet another pretty sun porch to laze around on.

This homeowner likes exactly what I do also. Lots of cushy seat pillows and roses everywhere I can find a spot to put them.

This is a miniature garden. I’ve never done one but they are cute if you like tiny things.

Another clever idea for a laundry room. I don’t think I could stand doing laundry in a dreary room or area. I did mine just like the rest of my home—pink with roses border and pictures hanging in there.

Another tiny fairy garden. Cute!

I like the wallpaper and the curtains best. But the whole room is lovely.

Somebody’s eye candy in their studio. ;-)

A crown someone made. Why don’t you make one to put around your living room or wherever you choose. I have one in my bedroom on a shelf, but I am going to bring it out into my living room so everyone can see it.

Cakes we love to look at and not even eat. This whole setting is just adorable.

More Easter Bunny Eye Candy for Pink Saturday

Friday, January 16, 2009

Just a reminder for all you chicks out there looking at this post to be sure and check out my giveaway of a darling birdhouse on Jan. 16, 2009 blog post. If you've missed reading me regularly and are just reading my Pink Saturday post you might wanna check it out, ladies!!!!!!!

I also considered this wreath but it was the same problem and the fairies weren't included. What's a wreath without the fairies, I ask you?

Are these cute or what?! I may get some of these to hang in my office.

Or then again these would look great in my house also. Whadda ya think, chicks?! Hmmm..........

Hubs spent the day with me on saturday chauffeuring me around to Costco, the grocery store, Bed Bath and Beyond (where we bought a sheet to act as a cover for our new mattress and not slip off the ultra thick mattress. Cost: $30.00!! Sheeesh), and to JCPenney for a whirlwind shopping spree in there.

As I passed by the lamps–spotting one for 1/2 price of the $120.00–he dragged me away. I have to return something on monday...........guess what else I'll be looking at??? Yep, I plan on looking at those lamps seriously this time. I need new lamps to decorate, cherubs........ But I'm passing on these little beauties below even as cute as they are.

This was also given serious consideration. I love this one. Maybe I could just hang this one inside and not worry about it getting squished in the door. Yeaaaaahhhh, that sounds good to me. *Wink*

Beautiful as a grouping on a dining table.

More luscious faux pastries and green bunny dinnerware. Notice that the napkins are simply tied with a pink ribbon. Easy and quite lovely.

Have you ever seen such darling bunnies than on these plates.......chicks, too?!

I can just see the kids coming into this house with these on a table. They are already stymied by all my faux pastries. I think they wonder why I have all this stuff around and they can't eat it.

I really wanted this one. No dice. Won't fit.

So this is what I'm settling for. I can hang this on the front door after I paint it candy apple red and it'll look lovely I think and I don't have to worry about it covering up the peep hole or being squished or possibly even getting stolen. The door is a red now but not the Pratt and Lambert Cardinal Red, which is the truest red I've ever seen. So with a true red door and this flag it should be lovely and make a statement. Purple and red....yep, I like that. Plus I absolute adore Thomas Kinkade paintings. My daughter got one for me and I love staring at it from time to time. He's one of my favorites.

That's it for today. More in a few days.

Easter Pretties

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Let's talk, or should I say, look at easter beauties today. I love easter because there are so many beautiful things to look at during this holiday. Okay okay, I'm not talking about the candy, chicks! I'm talking about the bunnies, roses, eggs, jelly beans........okay, so I am talking about candy–"eye candy"!! I love eye candy almost as much as I love the real stuff. I love the smiles it brings to the little munchkins and the pretty new dresses some people wear. I love the feeling of happiness it brings to us in our hearts. But mostly I love it because of the resurrection of our Savior and the hope that springs up with it.

Aren't these vases of beautiful flowers awesome? Faux. Yep, faux!! I was going to buy them but I have no place for any more flowers in this house. Yikes.........

I was also going to buy this geranium wreath but it wouldn't fit on the door with the storm door we have on there for security. It is just too bushy to be in there.

And I don't need another rug according to the Love Bunny. I have boxes up in the garage attic full of beautiful throw rugs and a persian carpet rolled up somewhere along with several 6x9' carpets rolled up. One more might just push hubs over the edge. ;-) But isn't this gorgeous?!

A magical easter bunny fairy.

Sigh...................... nope, no room for it either.

Cute but again no room in this house.

I hate deviled eggs but I'd be willing to fill it with truffles or some such things if I bought it. *Wink*

Egg shaped plates! How cute is that?!

Okay, now someone on etsy or ebay will come up with something like this I'm sure. Little felt easter bunny place mats.

I gave serious consideration to this wreath for the front door but hubs said he didn't think it would fit between the door and security/storm door either.

I'll show you more in a day or two plus I'll show you what I've decided on for the front door.

Keep watching for it within the week. I am a bit behind but that's to be expected with what these past 2 weeks have been like.
