Creating Ballerina Matchbox

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

I have wanted to do one of these little match box creations for a looooong time, but just finally emptied a match box! We don't use matches very much I suppose. But I finally did. I covered it with paper and then rhinestones, a ballerina, pink and white twine, pink and white tissue garland and paper roses for this little darling creation. I don't know if I'll sell it or keep it or what. It would make a cute decoration in my granddaughter's house but she's not into these kinds of decorations but she might like it since I made it.

Inside is crinkled paper, a little chick and more roses just because I wanted to!! Hah. I can do whatever I want since it's mine, right?!?!?! Enlarge to get a better idea of what it looks like, chicks.

Dolly's Valentine Swap

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

I received a package from my swap partner from Dolly's Valentine Swap. When I opened the package I thought it was full of those little candy hearts with sayings until I realized it was the paper wrapping. How cute is this?!?!

Inside was this little heart shape rose box filled with goodies.

Ephemera, note pad, valentine nail file, a valentine tea towel (which I am in need of badly!) and a sachet.

Then a box of chocolates.........squeeeeeeeeal!!! I loooooove chocolate......

This darling little heart shaped roses wreath. I adore this. It is going in a place of honor in my romantic cottage, chicks. Maybe my office or crafting room or maybe even my kitchen so I can see it every time I cook. But it'll definitely be hung where I can see it every single day.

And lastly, this little demitasse. I think it'll allow me to have more cups of hot chocolate. :-)

I have been truly blessed by Deb.

Vintage Floral & Fruit Canisters

Thursday, May 15, 2008

Can you believe these darling canisters??!! I bought them several years ago and put them on my kitchen soffit and just about forgot about them being up there. They are from the 40s or 50s I believe as it looks similar to some my grandma and mom had as I was growing up then. But they are definitely cute with the flowers and the fruit in that basket. I thought about painting them but I'm not too sure I'd want to do that as I truly love the way they are now. They're metal and the words, basket and vines look painted on and not a decal. The bottom has "The Tin Box Company of America, Inc., Long Island City, N.Y. Made in Hong Kong" printed on it. But the color is what is so unusual about this set. Pink wasn't on very many things back in the 40s and the green is an unusual green. They're a bit rusty inside but not a dent on any of them, some scratches though but they are so cute.
